If life generally imitates art, one nice instance is the mysterious disappearance of famous crime novelist Agatha Christie. In 1926, the Englishwoman disappeared for eleven days, spurring a nationwide search. Feared dead, she was finally discovered alive, supposedly affected by amnesia. However many had doubts about this explanation. Was this really a publicity stunt to spur e-book gross sales? Revenge against her adulterous partner? Nobody will ever know for certain - perhaps as a result of she meant it to be that manner. Agatha Christie is considered the bestselling novelist of all time, having penned sixty six detective novels and 14 quick story collections that collectively have sold more than 2 billion copies. That figure is just surpassed by sales of the Bible and the works of Shakespeare. She also wrote "The Mousetrap," the world's longest-operating play, which first debuted in 1952 and is still going robust. Her father was American, her mom British. The youngest of three kids, Agatha spent a contented childhood making up tales, writing, enjoying piano and singing.
